Partitions (Step 4 of 7 )

Where do you want to put Ubuntu 10.04 LTS ?

1. Install them side by side, choosing between them each startup

2. Erase and use the entire disk

3. Specify partitions manually ( Advanced )

1. Install them side by side, choosing between them each startup

This way, each time you turn on your PC you get a menu where you can choose between Ubuntu or Windows. This is called a "dual boot" configuration. It's like having two computers in one.
In a dual boot setup, none of your files, settings and programs in Windows will be affected. Likewise, Ubuntu will function totally independently of Windows--however, you will have the ability to access most of your Windows documents (MS Word documents, photos) or music in Ubuntu.

Note :- In this case may be you face some problem because Windows not fully supported other OS in this manner. So, not recommend for first timer (or newbie to Linux/Ubuntu).

2. Erase and use the entire disk

If you want erase your whole hard disk & want only Ubuntu 10.04, then this option for you. otherwise, leave this option.

3. Specify partitions manually ( Advanced )

In this option you can specify partitions manually. If you have free space on your hard disk & want Ubuntu with Windows then choose this option & press Forward button.

Step 5 of 8

If you select 3rd option then next step is 5 of 8 .

Now choose your partition either free space or existing partition.

Click on Delete Partition ( if partition is exist ), press Forward button.

Now next screen see similarly as below

Now, select your partition like above pic & press Forward button, after this a alert window open (if you not satisfy with this partitions then press Go Back ), press Continue button.
